Fleetwood Town 3-1 Bristol Rovers

  • Published

Fleetwood Town kept their hopes of automatic League Two promotion alive with a comfortable win against strugglers Bristol Rovers.

Antoni Sarcevic pounced on a Tom Parkes mistake to drive home the opener.

Mark Roberts then made it 2-0 with a header from a Josh Morris corner.

David Ball nodded a third from a Charlie Taylor cross, and Parkes cleared off the line from Nathan Pond and Roberts before Ellis Harrison pulled one back with a header.

Fleetwood are now six points off the top three with a game in hand, while Rovers are three points above the drop zone.

Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire:

"I'm really pleased with the team. We started really well and got the goal we deserved.

"We played some really good football and looked solid at the back.

"We have to reward the supporters with a performance that shows you're trying everything to get a result. We didn't do that on Saturday, and hopefully they've gone home with a smile on their face."

Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told 91热爆 Radio Bristol:

"It's disappointing because we've looked hesitant and uncertain, and perhaps we're lacking confidence.

"Our defending, which has been our strength this season, has let us down a bit.

"The three goals weren't self-inflicted but they could have been deal with better.

"We've offered a team, who I thought were wobbling a little bit, a lifeline."
