Dagenham manager Wayne Burnett was sent off during his side's victory against Newport County at Rodney Parade.
Burnett was sent to the stand for verbally abusing referee Charles Breakspear at half-time, while County captain David Pipe was sent off after a second yellow card in the 86th minute.
Medy Elito's first-half double proved enough to seal a Dagenham win.
County's Chris Zebroski had a penalty hit the crossbar before Robbie Willmott's free-kick made it 2-1.
County dominated a bad-tempered clash for long periods against the visitors but have now won once in their last 15 games.
Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh told 91热爆 Radio Wales:
"We cannot keep saying the luck is not with us, we have had enough opportunities but we have not taken them.
"We have to realise that the situation we are now in is very difficult. [The penalty miss] was massive. It's 1-all and a completely different game.
"Even after 2-0 we have hit the post and then gone in at half-time at 2-1. Credit to the players because we have shown the effort and the commitment, but we have to show more than that now.
"We need more quality, a little more guile and know-how to rediscover how to win a football match.
"It is easier said than done but we have nine games now to find two wins to make sure we we don't let all the hard work over the first 22 games fizzle away."
Dagenham coach Warren Hackett told 91热爆 London 94.9:
"We knew it would be a very direct game and we played similarly to them and got our just rewards quite early on.
"Medy is going through a great vein of form at the moment and is giving us the extra bit of class we need.
"We have got some good form away from home and it would be good if we can match that at home. We can hurt teams.
"We are not going to get carried away. We will just get as many points on the table as we can and see where it takes us. The league is wide open."
