Swindon boss Mark Cooper says they may look to offload Nile Ranger in January after a string of disciplinary issues.

The 22-year-old striker failed to turn up for training on Friday despite featuring for the Robins on Boxing Day.

Cooper told "He is a tremendous centre-forward and there are not many better at this level but sometimes the group is more important.

"January is coming and somewhere along the line we have to make a decision on what we are going to do."

Ranger was reprimanded by the League One club in November for failing to attend training and was then given time off to deal with personal issues.

Earlier this month Cooper said the former Newcastle United player should show "a bit more respect" to his fellow players.

"He played on Boxing Day but we've not seen him," Cooper added. "The rest of the players have been in preparing for Sunday. He's probably had a lie-in."

London-based Ranger has scored six goals in 19 appearances for Swindon since joining on an initial one-year deal in August.

Cooper hopes the striker is able to fulfil his potential.

"I'm more frustrated for Nile," Cooper said. "He is only still a young, young man. He has got a tremendous talent and he is wasting it.

"It's difficult but he is going to have himself to blame. He has had enough chances."

Asked how many more chances Ranger has, Cooper replied: "I don't know. I haven't got a clue."

Ranger is due to appear in court in January after being charged with rape, in connection with an alleged incident in Newcastle earlier this year.

He denies the charges.
