Torquay United 0-3 York City

  • Published

York recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season with a convincing win at Torquay.

Torquay, who had the better of the first half, fell behind when Wes Fletcher's turn and shot from close range found the bottom corner.

York doubled their lead through Josh Carson's superb 25-yard free-kick that found the top corner.

Former Gulls man Ryan Jarvis smashed home the visitors' third from close range to secure the points.

Knill accepts Torquay fans' criticism

"You have to accept criticism and we're open to criticism today.

"We all know that goals change games and we switched off three times to allow them to score.

"When you're at home you have to win, it's irrelevant how well you play.

"We want to send our supporters home happy but today they've got every right to complain and make their opinions known because we should never lose 3-0 at home."

York City manager Nigel Worthington told 91热爆 Radio York:

Post match: York boss Worthington

"I'm very pleased obviously with the result but for an hour it was a football match from the point of view that Torquay on the break were dangerous.

"I thought we were in and out the first half not as well as what we thought we could do but you're going to get that.

"We come in at 0-0, which is always a plus, and that allowed us in the second half to go on and do what we've done."
