Swansea booked a place in the Europa League play-off round as a goalless draw in Malmo sealed a 4-0 aggregate win.

The Welsh side did not reproduce the form that earned a big first-leg win but always looked in control.

Showing seven changes from last week, they limited Malmo to just a handful of half-chances.

Jonathan de Guzman had a shot cleared off the line for Swansea, while a tight offside call denied Wilfried Bony.

Swansea will find out their opponents for the 62-team play-off round when the draw takes places in Nyon on Friday, with Michael Laudrup's men one of the seeds.

The comprehensive first-leg win had allowed the Swans boss to make seven changes to his team for the second leg at the Swedbank Stadion.

Strikers Michu and Bony, who were on the scoresheet in the first leg, started up front once again while former Real Betis pair Jose Canas and Alejandro Pozuelo were handed their full debuts.

Pawel Cibicki, one of three changes for Malmo - second in the Swedish top flight - nearly repaid the faith placed in him with the home side's first attack of the game but he sent his shot just wide of the far post.

However, Swansea were looking the more dangerous side in attack, Michu firing just over the bar before spurning his second chance of the match when home keeper Johan Dahlin raced out to block with his chest.

The energetic Wayne Routledge also went close when he grazed the outside of the far post, while Bony had the ball in the net only to be ruled offside, perhaps unluckily.

If the first 45 minutes had been workmanlike, the second period dipped below that as some sloppiness entered the play of both sides.

Michu, who had been booked in the first half, was lucky to avoid a further caution when he brought down a Malmo defender and he was soon substituted as Laudrup sought to conserve the energy of last season's top scorer for his side's Premier League opener at Manchester United on 17 August.

There was still time for De Guzman to go close with a dinked shot but, with the keeper beaten, Pontus Jansson raced back to hook the ball off the line.
