Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair has had surgery on a blood clot in his shoulder and is recovering in hospital.
The 24-year-old was taken ill during training and missed his side's draw against Swansea on Saturday.
Sinclair, who joined City from Swansea for 拢6.2m last year, is expected to be discharged from hospital on Sunday and will return in a month for a check-up.
Manager Roberto Mancini said after the Swansea game: "I don't think it is a bad situation and it is under control."
Sinclair has endured a frustrating time at the Etihad since his arrival last August, making only three starts among his 15 appearances for the club this season.
Mancini suggested prior to the game at Swansea that the former Chelsea player's future may lie away from the club.
