Fleetwood 1-1 Cheltenham

  • Published

Junior Brown came off the bench to earn Fleetwood a point against promotion rivals Cheltenham Town.

The Robins bossed the opening stages at Highbury, and took a deserved lead when Marlon Pack's effort from 20 yards out squeezed in past Scott Davies.

However, the Cod Army levelled against the run of play when Brown powered home a header from Ryan Crowther's corner.

The hosts had keeper Davies to thank for keeping it level, as he kept out strikes from Pack and Paul Benson.

The result leaves Cheltenham one place ahead of Fleetwood in the final play-off berth, with four points separating the two sides.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire:

"We're happy with the point. Cheltenham put us under a lot of pressure and played some good football. It was a hard game for us.

"In the first half, I thought we struggled. We had to talk through a few things at half time and make a change.

"Slowly but surely we got ourselves into the game and Junior scored a fantastic header to earn the point.

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told 91热爆 Gloucestershire:

Yates 'let down' by Cheltenham

"We saw almost a complete performance but we've come away with a point and it's bitterly frustrating.

"They've not had a shot on target and they've scored from a set-piece.

"Someone's not done their job and we know who it is. It's cost us two points and we should have won.

"Right now I'm not the happiest man in the world."
