Carlisle defender Chris Chantler has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he needs an ankle operation.

The 22-year-old joined the Cumbrians from Manchester City after a successful loan spell and had featured 31 times this season, mainly at left-back.

"Following further consultations with our surgeon, it was decided Chris would undergo surgery immediately," physio Neil Dalton

"This was decided as the best way to ensure he will be fit for pre-season."
