Wayne Rooney should be fit for Manchester United's FA Cup replay against West Ham on Wednesday, says his manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, Ferguson confirmed striker Rooney will miss Sunday's Premier League match against Liverpool.

The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury during training before United's Boxing Day match against Newcastle.

Winger Nani and midfielder Anderson will return to United's squad for Sunday's game at Old Trafford.

Nani has been sidelined since the beginning of November and Anderson since the beginning of December, both with hamstring injuries.

"I assume Wayne will be available for Wednesday's replay," said Ferguson.

"Nani is back in training and will be included in the squad for Sunday. Anderson has been back training for 10 days now so he will be in the squad for Sunday. It's good to have them back.

"The derby game against Liverpool never changes. It's always an immensely important game - intense, emotional. We are going into the game in reasonable form."

Rooney, who has scored seven goals in the league this season, was replaced by Javier Hernandez, who scored in the 4-3 win over Newcastle.

The Mexico international and leading scorer Robin van Persie then scored two each as the Red Devils eased to a 4-0 win over Wigan on New Year's Day.

Victory helped them maintain their seven-point lead over Manchester City.
