Fletcher keen for right appointment

Plymouth Argyle manager Carl Fletcher has welcomed the club's decision to appoint a director of football.

Last week Argyle announced they were searching for someone to head up the football side of the business.

"It's good just to have someone with a bit of experience who's been there and done it that you can bounce a few ideas off," he told 91热爆 South West Sport.

"With someone who has experience and someone you respect, you listen to their answers and take it on board."

It will be the second time that Fletcher has had a director of football with him in just over a year as Argyle boss.

In January, John Deehan was appointed as a mentor for Fletcher, but the director of football Argyle are looking for now will have a more wide-ranging brief, taking charge of the entire footballing side of the League Two club.

"I'm still young, it's my first job and I'm still learning," Fletcher said.

"It's the same with the people upstairs so it'll be good to get someone in who wants to do well and do well for the football club.

"In terms of this club, there's been a real lack of football people around the place.

"We've got some great people on the board money-wise and commercially, but in terms of people with football knowledge it's a little bit sparse.

"I'm new into management and James Brent is new to running a football club so we're both learning as we go along."

And Fletcher says he expects other clubs to follow Argyle's lead and bring in a director of football.

"From my point of view it's the way football's going to be run in the next three or four years, that's going to be the norm," added Fletcher.

"The coaches and managers take care of the day-to-day football stuff and there's someone around them to do the office stuff."
