Plymouth 2-1 Burton Albion

  • Published

Simon Walton grabbed a dramatic late winner as Plymouth beat Burton to climb off of the bottom of League Two.

Walton put the hosts ahead with a 20-yard shot after a run from winger Luke Young, who nearly made it 2-0 but saw his effort hit the inside of the post.

Burton equalised when the Pilgrims failed to clear Cleveland Taylor's free-kick and Calvin Zola headed in.

But Plymouth won it through Walton's last-minute penalty after Andres Gurrieri had fouled Ashley Hemmings.

Hard work paid dividends - Fletcher

"We deserved it and I would have been disappointed if we'd lost.

"It wasn't a pretty game, scrappy and a bit tight. We had to do a lot of the mundane stuff to win but it paid off.

"We have a lot of voices in the changing room now and the young players are learning from them each and every day."
