Glasgow City have been beaten 17-0 on aggregate by Potsdam in the last 16 of the Women's Champions League.

Already trailing 10-0 from the first leg in Germany, Glasgow were thrashed 7-0 in Thursday's home leg.

Anja Mittag and Chantal de Ridder both scored twice and there were further goals from Kristin Demann, substitute Stefanie Draws and Isabel Kerschowski.

It was a humiliating end to the Scottish champions' first appearance in the Champions League knock-out stages.

Their hopes of joining Arsenal, who defeated Spanish side Rayo Vallecano 6-2 on aggregate, in the quarter-finals had already been ended by a 10-0 defeat in Germany.

City are used to handing out that type of drubbing in domestic football, having won this year's Premier League with a 100% record and 136 goals from 20 games.

But their amateur team were no match for the professionals of Potsdam, who were the competition's 2010 winners and last year's runners-up.

City have a chance to restore bruised pride on Sunday, when they will complete the domestic League and Cup double if they beat Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final.
