Over the Sea to Skye

It has been just over two weeks since we moved to Skye. For the first two days the sun was out and it was beautiful, I could even see the Cullins. Yet our gentle induction was over just after that wind wind, rain, sleet, snow and hail bombarding us most days.

Dont get me wrong, Im a Native Highlander, who has lived in the remotest parts of Sutherland since a small child, so Im used to the weather, thankfully.... remember those questions children ask, do we shrink in the bath if we stay in it too long? Well Ive tested this question, having spent many a day getting soaked to the skin, even in good old crofters oilskins, luckly we dont.

Yet even given the testing weather, spring is beginning to show, the daffodils are out and the trees are about to show the first signs of leaf and the birds are singing every morning.. the grass is always greener on skye, it has started to grow already.

Skye is always how I imagined it to be, beautiful, desolate and untamed. Yet around me is a strong family community. The family has made new friends and we went to two chieldhs last weekend... strip the willow for me folks. Skye is truelly how the all of the highlands used to be...long may it last.

Hello, over the sea to sunny Skye! I am new to Island Blogging myself - I will be moving to Skye shortly, having been a lowlander all my life - born in the city, brought on the coast, then back to the city. Have had enough of city life; time to get out. I'm looking forward to reading your tales!

Hope Later from not there yet!

Hello Hope Later, you will love Skye, it is a wonderful, magical place.. if a little wet... take nothing but your swimming stuff cos all it does is rain... But nothing beats the views, the folk here and of course the sunsets.
