Happy New Year

Happy new year to all fellow fanksters and many thanks to bloggers who have made kind enquiries about me. Sorry for not writing for such a long time. I’ve been suffering from Post Fank Stress Disorder and needed a bit of time to get over it all. I'd really built myself up to for a dream come true - sharing life with a serviceable bodach with a wee lorry and a wonderful ways with sheep but seemingly it wasn’t to be. Tch. I hope there’ll be better luck in 2007.

In the meantime, Chrissie Mary and I are pretty much in our usual. We're looking forward to getting back into the ceilidh spirit at the sale in Lionel. Thanks to calumannabel for spreading the news.

Here's a lovely snap of the 3 Macs to get us all in the mood. I can see the attraction now I've seen their picture.

All the best for 2007.

Oh Annie! Is that really you, Annie?! You did not have to stay so far away simply because you lost my prized marag!! All is forgiven (maybe?! perhaps??). # Are you using those three macs for detecting? But why three? Did they come in packs of three at Primark?! You are economical to a fault, dear, dear Annie Beag. # Yes, yes, the first of the year is the only time when I am out of character.

mjc from NM,USA

Is this an identity parade of some sort? If so I think Coat B did it.

calumannabel from Gannex House Habost

What are you talking about? I thought a Fank was a sheephold sort of enclosed area, what have Macintosh Coats got to do with that? Happy New year anyway.

AcutelyCurious from Coll (Isle of)

Yes, AcutelyCurious, it is quite unclear what, if anything, they wore under those macs, at the Fank. I missed the hullaballoo at this year's Fank because I took the wrong train, and thus can't enlighten you further. # Calum. or GrannyB. - how about a Primer on the Fank to AcutelyCurious. If not, s/he may end up wasting a call to the local Tourist Board or Visit Scotland for information ...

mjc from NM,USA

Dear Acutely curious We held a virtual dating festivallast year using our local fank to keep the men and women apart. It also has the advantage of a chemical toilet on site. the idea buil;t up some momentum as can be seen from various blogs early in 06. We shall be repaeating the event soon as soon as Donald has saved enough for the liability insurance

calumannabel from lewis

Oho.....three pacamacs? Or a pack of three macs as mjc says, although he might possibly regret it. That'll be 'something for the weekend' then.

Flying Cat from on Burberry Hill

Great to see you back Annie B! You must've been to some swanky forgien places to come back with the high fasions, I can see competition is going to be tough at this years fank... I don't think our FMA runs to Macs, perhaps I could purchase the one on the right with the flashy button detail, do you do hire purchase? I could manage 5 mackrel and a bag of welks a week? Or I've two tins of Spam as a down payment?

Sunny from Arran

Oh mjc thank you so much for your lovely, kind, forgiving message. I had to wipe the tears from my eyes with the corner of my pinnie. Sniff. It's good to be back! Calumannabel's blog had mentioned that the 3 Macs were performing in Lionel, so I thought I'd check them out. Hope there's not too much of a breeze coming in off the machair when they visit. (All together now...'Raincoats keep falling from my shed'.) Hello AcutelyCurious. Your fank definition's right but the word has taken on new meanings based on a very special sheep enclosure near South Dell in northern Lewis. It became (in)famous last year as the setting for Calumannabel's first Dating Extravaganza matchmaking festival. Lastly, where's Gannex House in Habost Calum? Did you mean Gannet House?

Annie B from Lone Sheiling

What magnificent bloggers! Dear Annie B, Sunny, calumannabel, Flying Cat, MJC - I've been reading your various blogs and comments just recently. I've already been injured twice through falling off my chair laughing out loud. Looking forward to a blogful 07.

Bunchrew Seer from Inverness

Sunny dear! All your swaps sound very tasty and you certainly know how to tempt a body. I’d heard about the tradition of exchanging small fish for overcoats and ‘mac-krill’ as a currency is much more sensible than the ideas about beads that calumannabel and mjc are on about on Calum’s blog. Are your 2 tins of Spam the fancy new varieties with ‘stinky French garlic’? The Spam connoisseurs’ grapevine says that the new flavour was created as a tribute to a Monty Python sketch featuring Vikings so I wondered if your longboat crew got some samples. Lovely to hear from Flying Cat as well - quite the height of fashion on Burberry Hill. Your comments made me blush a bit though. (Skin tone courtesy of the macs factor?) No doubt Anne at IBHQ will have to do a health and safety risk assessment of all blogging environments after the disturbing reports of blog-related injuries. I wonder if Bunchrew Seer is a PC owner or a Mac user? Get well soon BS.

Annie B from the usual

The Tea Rooms in Fivepenny do Burberry Hill Muffins -I think! I believe Bunchrew Seer is a country and western singer -didn't he marry Nicole Kidman or someone of that ilk? I think I have one of his CD's in the tractor.

calumannabel from Gannex House no it's not a typo

Clearly Bunchcrew is a mac user, probably a serial mac user at that. Send us some pics, Bunchie!!

Those fanky swanky blogettes from Lewis had me fooled into thinking that it was a tough windswept land the Dell Fank gathering took place in. Well I've just made a flying e-visit to South Dell and found that they're living the life of Reilly. Just look at what I found there when I hovered above the sheep pens in my browser (grid ref NB480609 for the cartophiliacs out there ) and searched a well known search engine for "work global south dell" There's even a picture of smugly satisfied folks leaving the luxurious palace!

Goodness knows what kind of samples Sunny came back with from her longboat trip. It doesn't bear thinking about. Mpu is rather taken with the Burberry Hill Muffins, and asks "Is it okay to eat them whilst wearing her Xmas BH Mules?"

Sartorially stripes and checks not good on any feline.

calumarmani from milan thainc Lewis

Did not the residents of Alcatraz and Folsom wear regimental outfits with stripes and checks?

mjc from NM,USA

Another good reason for a cat not to be seen in such sartorial desuetude. mjc's going to tell me what that means, 'cos I sure as hell don't know.

Flying Cat from singin' the Blues

Search me, FC, search me!!

mjc from NM,USA

I've got it - the middle one is Sir Cameron Mackintosh inventor of the last Rolo and patron of Highland 07.

calumannabel from Packamac Place Stornoway

The one on the Far Right must be that Bishop Cormac Murphy.....

Flying Cat from sooking a rennie

and the one in the middle is Lerwick Trevor in disguise ...

mjc from NM,USA

Does he kneed a mac just now? I don't think he's going out much just yet.

Flying Cat from Dan Immac House

Nobody's guessed that the one on the left is the inventor of the indigestion tablet - Rennie Mackintosh

Annie B from the usual

Which coat has the last Rolo in its pocket that is the big question?
