Message for Calum & Donald - PR

This is an important message for Calum and Donald.

My contacts in the world of gourmet catering (Angus and Donnie, the Mackay brothers from the butcher's van) have passed on a sponsorship offer from the Guga Marketing Board, together with a competition encouraging people to find love at the Fank. I said that this was more in your line as Fank Organisers, but it does look exciting. Please can your people talk to their people?

They asked whether other companies had shown an interest and were keen to guage public opinion on how to select the ideal Guga Couple. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure who should be the face of Guga, although I did go out with somewith with the face of one once. Marks and Spencer are running a nice line in Guga with a sauce nicoise ready meal for 拢3.55. I am worried as the futures market for Fulmars has fallen sharply, so I will be switching all my good money to Black Guillemots.. They have a good marketing slogan "There tystie, tystie, very, very tystie". (Sorry a bit of a birdy/shetland kind of joke there). The St.Kildans were reknowned for there delicate presentation of puffin a la king which was a hit in 1920s before fanny craddock made it popular. Linda McCartney (she's quite busy for a dead person) has produced a new range of pseudo-seabird food for the discerning vegetarian. These consist of reconstituted quorn in the shape of seabird giblets, 拢2.55 in the "look a bit like meat section" of your local supermarket.

Annie Beag fan club from Falling in love again what am I to do.

Och. A fan club! Tch. I鈥檓 fair blushing. I haven鈥檛 been so proud since I heard about my damehood. Anyway, back to the subject in hand - I鈥檝e written to the Department of Parapsychology at Clyde University (as featured in the 91热爆鈥檚 Sea of Souls) to check out how the dead woman manages to keep inventing fake fulmar fricassee from beyond the grave. No doubt that nice Bill Paterson will sort it all out when he鈥檚 finished baking his next batch of shortbread. I thought I鈥檇 sound Lexie/Justine out about the Fank Family House at the same time. Black guillemots are always a good bet, aren鈥檛 they? I鈥檝e been trying out some new recipes since the recent Burns night menu was an unexpected success. Tomorrow we鈥檙e having a trio of kittiwake, cormorant and guillemot saut茅ed with marag in an Irn Bru demi glaze set on a bed of carrageen marmalade. I might want Calum鈥檚 sister鈥檚 recipe for veloute after all!

Our people are talking to their people? It could be that the Guga Couple may be same sex - groundbreaking stuff etc. Donald is insistent on a swim suit and catwalk round and he fancies the compere's job but my feeling is that sort of job is more up the Godwin's street and folk of that ilk. But things are moving be assured.

I have the knitting pattern for her sweater should anyone be interested. No one from Fair Isle need apply - you've plenty of patterns of your own.

This has set me thinking Calum. Why wasn't there more publicity for the Camp Coffee Couple when Gold Blend promoted their brazen caffeine-related shennanigins with yon long-haired bisom? The label for the coffee'n'chicory goo (i.e. Camp coffee) had a picture of 2 braw handsome men and carried the witty slogan, "Ready, Aye, Ready". Camp Coffee is a Scottish product so they might sponsor a separate competition for same-sex singletons? It might be best to keep quiet about a catwalk or those animals from the Northern Isles will be in there faster than a Niseach in a guga queue at Port of Ness. My knitting needles are already twitching in anticipation. Can't wait to cast on and get plaining and purling. http://www.sybertooth.com/camp/

I think the Camp Coffee people 'bottled it'

We shall have a guga couple pageant on the final day after the 12 colour bingo but before the tree felling demonstration.

All this sounds fine exciting Donald. I'm really looking forward to the tree fellas. Are they from Ireland?

Annie B from Lone Sheiling

It's not tree fellers there's four of them.

I have been reading all about the dating extravaganza at the fank. its pretty hard to find out who said what and when. I think you need help on the catering front. I will attend, I have looked out my girdle, and will need a very large pot for the tatties. I have a very good friend who can sing, play the banjo and the guitar - although I am not sure if it all happens at the same time. Ruthodanort will be glad to be entertaintments coordinator I am sure. She is in this week's Shetland times - as is most of Unst! We are all very worried about the facilities at the fank - is there electricity for our hair straightners?

You're hired. You're in charge of the Arran Pilots and the Pentland Spuds. Your friend will have to audition though as we're knee deep in banjo players. Everywhere you go on Lewis someone is singing 'When I'm Cleaning Windows'. It never used to be like this before double glazing
