Agnes Anne Morrison - now will you believe me?

Ok. I've told you that Agnes Ann Morrison is a cheeky bisom and not to be trusted. Well here's some evidence. She claims that she only needs 2 pinnies a year from JD Williams. Now I'm a great fan of Mr Williams' lavishly illustrated works (Sheep on a Hot Byre Roof was brilliant) and I can tell you that he doen't do pinnies - not for ordinary readers anyway. If you don't believe me go to his website and check. (Just use Google) Secondly, when she was supposed to be visiting her so-called penfriend in Lesmahagow (I ask you. Does that sound likely?), she was in fact on a jolly to Budapest paid for by the European Cultural Fund . Shamelessly trading on her Morrison name and connections, she got paid barn-loads of money to open a 'music pub' near the Opera House. If this isn't evidence, what is?

Sorry if this is off the letter, or whatever you said, Calum, but I had to get it off my chest. Not my shoulder I hope you'll note. Surely all that guff about cappuccinos in the Library should have been enough to arouse suspicion in the first place. Honestly, you bodachs!

I know this pub. It was formerly called the Summer Field till Agnes Ann pitched in with her pounds from stirling - excuse my language itsa no good. She gotta rid of darts and dominoes now it's nothing but the tug of war team who are top of their league at the moment. She gotta rid of Kalinka offa the juke box now its nothing but The Three Macs and Andy Stewart. We no like change round here. She has a crap logo on the beer mats as well 'More reasons to sup at Morrison's.' We want more than this after a day's hard hammering and sickling. Can you not call her back home so we can have our Irish bar back?

'Byre on a hot tin roof ' was not by JD Williams but by Tennessee Ernie Ford a nephew of Henry, inventor of the car boot sale. Tennessee left Eoropie at the age of 14 and rose eventually to become head of Williams Formula One Racing. His famous biography is still a best seller today 'Just Williams' by Richmal Crompton whose mother was a Tolsta girl. JD Williams is an entirely different cove altogether who sold The Shiant Islands to the Nicolson family for £5000 which they paid over 38 weeks. See Chapter 2 'Sea Room' by Adam Nicolson. Hope this clears things up in your mind anna bheag. PS Adam is not the Nicholson of Institute fame just in case you were thinking along those lines

Whoever he is, he’d better get ready for ‘Firth in a Hot Tin Bath’, because that’s what we’re all looking forward to now!! I’m just a simple lassie and all this is a bit over my head, but you have put me in mind of a Crompton family in Tolsta now you’ve mentioned it. In fact they got quite well-known because they had a knitting donkey or a spinning mule or somesuch. Don’t remember Rich Mal, but I think the family had a bob or two. Will there be any Cromptons at the Matchmaking, or any animals with unusual skills?

How I laughed when someone asked what I was doing in Budapest taking snaps! It’s enough of a carry on getting south of Barvas these days. What happened was that Chrissie Mary’s cousin has a party line with the phone box at Port of Ness and heard Aggie Ann talking to Ivor Optiks in Hungary, so we could all put 2 and 2 together when we found the photo left in the kiosk. Mrs Morrison was hoisted by her own Polaroid. Hope that's cleared things up and discredited her completely so that we can get back to Festival business and let the decent Ness women have fair play.
