yes, thats the traditional name - quite possibly it is an old slang derivative of stack, but i don't really know - perhaps someone more clued -up on language origins may know.

Moto the Collie is as useful as he is good looking, he works at the sheep and has just passed his first couple of outings without the other dog being there 'just in case'. He did a good job.
