Artist Samantha Brown, part of The Moulin Rouge's new show. It consists of a troupe of 100 artists including 70 dancers. Here they are dressed in some of the hundreds of costumes which include feathers, rhinestones and sequins.

Holly Sinclair from Southport on her way from her Paris flat to perform in the nightly evening show at the Moulin Rouge.

Preparing to enter the stage to perform the Cancan 110 years after its first steps were made at the Moulin Rouge. Some criteria are compulsory: a good base of classical ballet training, the girls have to measure at least 1.75m (5'8"), the boys must be more than 1.85m (6'3"). Losing or gaining weight is forbidden, cutting or dying one's hair is strictly monitored.

The Moulin Rouge today and yesterday, the Moulin Rouge forever," the entire troupe appears on stage in front of French people and foreigners. In 1890 on a private visit to Paris, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VII, reserves a table to watch the quadrille, the reputation of which had already crossed the Channel. Recognising him, la Goulue (the glutton), leg in the air and head in her skirts, calls out, "Hey, Wales, the champagne's on you!"

Two of the English dancers check the running order. In addition to the 2 shows every night, the dancers train regularly and continue taking dance lessons to remain fit and at the height of perfection.

Holly Sinclair from Southport returns to her Paris flat after performing at the Moulin Rouge. Before Paris, she was at dance school in Blackpool at Phil Winston's Theatrework.

Holly does warm-up exercises with a friend before going on stage. "I had some training before coming to Paris. I had lots of rehearsals and training to build my muscles when I came here as you use totally different muscles that you'd never used in your life before. I learnt new techniques all have to be precise and clean spot-on. We have rehearsals once every 2 weeks."

Holly started ballet as a three-year-old. Tap and modern at five years old and took dance classes up to the age of 17 when she went to full-time college. Dancing at the Moulin Rouge is a 'dream come true',

Holly told me, "I always wanted to be a showgirl. I knew about the Moulin Rouge, the Cancan and showgirls".
