It's been a tumultuous week here at the Today programme - and indeed across the 91热爆. In light of the upheavals and on-going uncertainty in the wake of the Hutton Report, Kevin feels it wouldn't be proper for him to comment directly at this time. Instead, this week's newsletter comes courtesy of our now former Director-General Greg Dyke. This was his leaving message to 91热爆 staff on his departure on Thursday.
We wish him good luck for the future..."

Greg's Email to Staff
This is the hardest e-mail I鈥檝e ever written.
In a few minutes I鈥檒l be announcing to the outside world that I鈥檓 leaving after four years as Director General. I don鈥檛 want to go and I鈥檒l miss everyone here hugely.
However the management of the 91热爆 was heavily criticised in the Hutton Report and as the Director General I am responsible for the management so it鈥檚 right I take responsibility for what happened.
I accept that the 91热爆 made errors of judgement and I鈥檝e sadly come to the conclusion that it will be hard to draw a line under this whole affair while I am still here. We need closure. We need closure to protect the future of the 91热爆, not for you or me but for the benefit of everyone out there. It might sound pompous but I believe the 91热爆 really matters.
Throughout this affair my sole aim as Director General of the 91热爆 has been to defend our editorial independence and to act in the public interest.
In four years we鈥檝e achieved a lot between us. I believe we鈥檝e changed the place fundamentally and I hope that those changes will last beyond me. The 91热爆 has always been a great organisation but I hope that, over the last four years, I鈥檝e helped to make it a more human place where everyone who works here feels appreciated. If that鈥檚 anywhere near true I leave contented, if sad.
Thank you all for the help and support you鈥檝e given me. This might sound a bit schmaltzy but I really will miss you all. I鈥檝e enjoyed the last four years more than any other time in my working life. I attach the statement which will be released soon.
Yours,
Greg
