John is one of the most accomplished climbers in the world, and a personal friend of Steve. He’s spent over 10 years climbing Tepuis in Venezuela. He is the second lead climber, alongside fellow climbing veteran Ivan Calderon. The two will rotate, each taking a turn as the lead climber, picking out the route, and securing ropes for the rest of the climbing party. John’s experience will be critical when it comes to choosing a route up the face.
