Samuel Drummond
As before him, Desk Sergeant Samuel Drummond understands the high value of rapid access to information.
Part of the reason hired him was because the young man put him in mind of Reid, but Drum has taken Reid’s obsession with modernity and raised the bar. He is a Q-like presence dragging H Division kicking and screaming into the next century.
From finger-printing to X-rays to criminal cataloguing, Drum represents the new generation of coppers using every resource available to collar the villainy of Whitechapel. Inevitably, however, this more cerebral form of policing brings him into conflict with H Division’s old guard – those more at home ‘coaxing’ a witness with their fists than building a case with logic and science… namely, .
In these new, hungry cops we see the visceral collision of the old and the new, as each young man employs their unique skills to better the other.
