Harry's sergeant Stan Raddings is a working-class southerner with an enormous heart, sometimes concealed behind an unwittingly tactless exterior.
A brilliant soldier, Stan is a committed, knowledgeable and loyal sergeant, and when, in their early days of battle, Harry becomes overwhelmed by the task before him, Stan steps up to set him, and their unit, back on the right path.
