Mishal Husain

Mishal Husain presents news bulletins on 91热爆1 in the UK and is known internationally for her work on 91热爆 World News, where she fronts the flagship programme Impact with Mishal Husain.

She was one of the main hosts for daily coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games on the 91热爆 and has also presented 91热爆2's Newsnight.

Mishal has reported from around the world for the 91热爆 and presented live programmes on location including from Pakistan after the deaths of Osama bin Laden and Benazir Bhutto, from Cairo during the Egyptian revolution and from China during the Beijing Olympics.

She is also well known for her work from the United States as the 91热爆's first Washington-based anchor, where her nightly news programmes developed a keen following.

She has also presented two critically acclaimed 91热爆 documentary series, one on the life on Mahatma Gandhi and the other in 2011 on the use of social media by activists during the Arab Spring.

How Facebook Changed the World saw Mishal travel to five countries across the Arab world, with the Observer calling it "a remarkable history lesson".

Mishal's diverse talents have also taken her to a range of other 91热爆 programmes, including From Our Own Correspondent on 91热爆 radio, and A History of the World in 100 Objects for 91热爆 television.

Mishal was born in the UK in 1973 but grew up in the Middle East.

She was educated at Cambridge University where she read law and went on to complete a Masters in Law at the European University Institute in Florence.

In 2009 she chaired the judging panel for the prestigious Orange Prize for New Writers, and was also named by The Times as one of the five most influential Muslim women in the UK.

She is also an ambassador for the charities Mosaic, Operation Smile and the British Asian Trust.
