34 year old Neil Fairhall has been a fire fighter for 8 years, but it wasn’t his original vocation.
He studied Sport and Exercise Science at university and took a job running health clubs, but soon realised it wasn’t the right career for him and decided to become a fire fighter. He joined the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service in 2004.
Now based at Haywards Heath fire station, he loves the job, the team work, the camaraderie, and the banter that goes with it (not to mention the Chocolate Hobnobs at tea break). He works an 8 – 6 shift, which involves going out on emergency calls, equipment training, and teaching fire safety in homes and schools.
Neil has always loved sport. He takes a skiing holiday most years, is a die-hard Tottenham fan and plays football on a veterans’ team.
Neil lives with his partner Karrie and their 9 month old son, Freddie, in West Sussex.
