
How to best respond to someone having a stroke
Ambulance crews in Cambridgeshire are piloting a new finger-prick blood test in a bid to diagnose the deadliest form of a stroke in a matter of minutes, and initial results suggest it could be twice as effective as relying on patients' symptoms alone. Dr Xand explains how this test works, why large vessel occlusions, or LVO strokes, are so dangerous and the best ways to respond if you or someone you know is having one. Plus he talks through how a new treatment could prevent strokes in older people with high blood pressure.聽
