The average household now faces around £65,000 in debt - and with April’s bill hikes rising higher than expected, up more than £100 for most households, the strain is mounting. More than a quarter of those struggling say they feel hounded by repayment demands, with some receiving at least 16 calls a month. Consumer journalist Rebecca Wilcox explains that while creditors have the right to contact you, there are strict rules - relentless calls, threats, or pressure to pay more than you can afford are red flags and could amount to criminal harassment.
