Episode 2

Episode 2 of 4

Big V and Tobias travel to Newcastle to help Kahina try to exit her tenancy due to black mould, and they continue to help Dan with his flat search in Manchester.

Big V and Tobias are estate agents on a mission to help young renters, whatever their issues. In this episode, they are in Manchester and Newcastle dealing with two very different requests.

In Manchester, the lads meet up with 25-year-old Dan. Dan is looking to move into central Manchester, and to make his finances go further he has found a flatmate, but now it’s time to find him a pad that’s on point and on budget. Will Dan like what they’ve found?

Then they are off to Newcastle to help 24-year-old Kahina. She is in a desperate situation as she is trying to leave a tenancy early because her flat has black mould, but it turns out she has no break clause in her contract. The urgency of Kahina’s situation is underlined to the boys as they discover she has an autoimmune condition and is pregnant. Big V and Tobias need to build a case to get her released from her tenancy early and without any penalty, so they enlist the services of damp assessor ‘Damp Man Dave’ to evaluate if the damp issues are the responsibility of Kahina or her landlord.

Finally, Big V and Tobias give their advice on some stranger rental problems, like the landlord trying to charge their tenants for the cleaning of a lightbulb, and the landlord demanding their tenants cut the grass that’s under a foot of snow. What are your rights if your landlord makes unreasonable demands or charges?
