New Model Army's Classic Album: Thunder And Consolation
Steve chats to Justin Sullivan about New Model Army's classic album from 1989, Thunder And Consolation.
Justin remembers a golden period of creative chemistry with Robert Heaton; navigating the tides at Cornwall鈥檚 Sawmills Studio; his big love for Motown and Northern Soul (often overlooked, with many focusing on the album鈥檚 folk influences); working with producer Tom Dowd; and the difficult process of getting this much-loved album onto tape.
27 years on, Justin also reflects on the fact that, after the album鈥檚 release, New Model Army decided to move on, at the very moment they were at the vanguard of a new musical wave.
