New Model Army Classic Album (and Record Store Week continues)

Steve chats to Justin Sullivan from New Model Army about Thunder and Consolation, plus he looks ahead to Record Store Day with Love Music in Glasgow and a new Roots Manuva release.

Steve chats to Justin Sullivan about New Model Army's classic album from 1989, Thunder And Consolation.

Justin remembers a golden period of creative chemistry with Robert Heaton; navigating the tides at Cornwall's Sawmills Studio; his big love for Motown and Northern Soul (often overlooked, with many focusing on the album's folk influences); working with producer Tom Dowd; and the difficult process of getting this much-loved album onto tape.

27 years on, Justin also reflects on the fact that, after the album's release, New Model Army decided to move on, at the very moment they were at the vanguard of a new musical wave.

Steve also looks ahead to Record Store Day with Love Music in Glasgow and a new track from Roots Manuva.
