England spinner Monty Panesar has said he is "delighted" to been formally included in Northamptonshire's squad for the new county season.

The 33-year-old has been training at Wantage Road this winter while recovering from a shoulder injury.

Panesar has secured independent financial support in order to play for the county where he began his career.

The left-armer, who has also played for Sussex and Essex, has taken 167 wickets in 50 Tests for England, the last of them three years ago.
