Labour 'wishing they could change the rules'
A left-wing comedian has accused Labour officials of trying to rig the party鈥檚 leadership race because Jeremy Corbyn looked set to win.
鈥淭hey're wishing that they could change the rules of the game during an election which they're trying to rig - and they're only trying to rig because Jeremy's winning,鈥 said Jeremy Hardy, who used to be a Labour member.
A party official has strongly denied the claims.
Labour has told some of those who signed up that they will not be allowed to take part.
The party is carrying out checks on new supporters following concerns that members of other parties have tried to influence the contest's outcome by paying 拢3 to become registered supporters under new party rules.
Labour has rejected concerns raised by former MP Andrew Mackinlay that such a verification process could breach Data Protection laws.
