Housing Development, Thailand and Catch 22.

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

A campaign group that's been fighting Leicestershire's biggest housing development for nearly a DECADE says it now accepts it can't stop it - but is vowing to make sure developers stick to their promises. The Barkby and Barkby Thorpe Action Group - known as BABTAG - started its fight against THOUSANDS of homes to the North East of Leicester back in 2008. But now - after hearing there will be no government review of the decision to give approval, or anything to block it - the campaigners say they've now had to re-focus to making sure that all that has been promised in terms of supporting infrastructure is delivered. It should have been a dream holiday for a friend's wedding, but after an accident in Thailand, a Leicester couple are facing nightmare debts.Certificates have been handed out to pupils at three Leicester schools - as part of a big campaign to try and prevent young people entering into crime. The "early intervention" scheme is one of the major aims of the Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Clive Loader. He was on hand to award the honours to children at Eyres Monsell Primary, Rolleston Primary and Samworth Academy. The project was organised by 'Catch 22', a national charity who work with vulnerable families trying to help them turn their lives around.
