East Midlands Airport is celebrating its 50th birthday today! Today is Maundy Thursday - it marks the washing of the disciples feet by Jesus in an act of humility before his crucifixion. It's commemorated each year by the Queen who distributes specially minted Maundy Money to 178 recipients over the age of 70. Out of the 47 declared candidates for the Leicestershire and Rutland's ten parliamentary seats, SEVEN are women. That's fewer than one in six!
