As country music's profile rises higher every year in the UK, leading journalist, reviewer and broadcaster Paul Sexton looks at some of the best country music coming from our shores. He focuses on the songwriters and artists strongly influenced by Nashville and Americana, now putting their own British stamp on country.
Paul will explore all genres in our country scene and will include a live session from the UK's two acts of the moment Ward Thomas and The Shires, who will perform a duet exclusively for the programme.
Paul is well-known as the presenter and producer of countless documentaries for Radio 2, often with unparalleled access to big stars like the Rolling Stones, Dolly Parton and Elton John; he has also covered the CMA Awards and deputised for Bob Harris on Radio 2 over many years. Paul writes for numerous newspapers and publications including the Sunday Times, Sunday Express, Financial Times and Billboard. He is a frequent visitor to the United States and has been syndicated on radio there, and has made many trips to Nashville.
