Paul presents America’s greatest country hits past and present. Adapting the features from his weekly Radio 2 show America’s Greatest Hits, Paul plays ‘The Other Number Ones’ - for this show, he plays two country records by Lynn Anderson and The Oak Ridge Boys that did not reach number one in the Billboard pop chart, but reached the top in rival publication Cashbox. ‘It’s Not The Same Old Song’ highlights ‘Young Love’ by Sonny James and a different song with the same title by The Judds. We also celebrate the birthday this week of Jim Ed Brown by playing his 1970 country hit ‘Morning’. Country number ones from this week in history are featured by Johnny Cash (‘Ballad of A Teenage Queen’ from 1958) and Taylor Swift (‘Love Story’ from 2009). There is also a selection of the week’s best-selling country singles plus tracks from albums in the country chart.
