Ched Evans: Gordon Taylor apologises over Hillsborough comments

Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor has apologised for appearing to compare the Hillsborough tragedy with the Ched Evans rape case.

Taylor told Radio 4's Today programme: "I wasn't comparing the cases, I was looking at a comparison of the principle, of people having the right to maintain their innocence".

"Obviously I don't want to upset anybody from the Hillsborough families support groups."

Asked if Ched Evans will never play football in Britain again. Taylor suggested "it's doubtful".
