Bob Cryan is the author of a letter in support of the Duke of York published in the Times today. Prince Andrew has hit the headlines after being named in court papers in the US. A woman has alleged that financier Jeffrey Epstein, a former friend of Prince Andrew, forced her to have sex with the prince on three occasions when she was a minor in the US. Buckingham Palace has denied the claims made about the royal. American law professor Alan Dershowitz, also named in the court document, has begun legal action to clear his name. We speak to Bob Cryan, vice-chancellor at the University of Huddersfield and Prince Andrew's friend.

The threat of a terror attack in the UK is increasing and the security services cannot be expected to stop every plot, the head of MI5 has warned. 聽Speaking last night Andrew Parker said police and MI5 had "stopped three UK terrorist plots" in recent months. The shootings in Paris were "a terrible reminder of the intentions of those who wish us harm," he said. 聽Sir Malcolm Rifkind is chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee.

Efforts to improve England's education system are being undermined by short-term, political pressures, according to the former the Chief Inspector of Schools, 聽 Sir David Bell.Sir David, vice chancellor of Reading University, wants strategy for schools to be set by an independent body and says it is a "ridiculous situation" for school curriculums to be based on "ministerial whims", he says. Sir David Bell is former Ofsted chief and vice chancellor of Reading University.

David Cameron has said he will not take part in TV debates ahead of the general election unless the Green Party are also included. Earlier, the Greens said they were considering legal action after the broadcasting regulator, Ofcom, issued a draft ruling saying that they, unlike UKIP, were not a "major party". 聽Mr Cameron also told Nick Robinson he'd be happy to see no debates at all during the election campaign itself. NHS England publish their weekly figures on winter pressures today - covering waiting times at A&E, levels of flu and Norovirus, bed blocking, and ambulance waits at A&E. The NHS 111 service say they are handling massive volumes of calls. Some people believe that the NHS鈥檚 telephone triage service is thought to be sending more people to A&E or calling out an ambulance more often than the NHS Direct.聽

Keith Willet, director for acute episodes of care at NHS, told this programme yesterday that there has been a 鈥渂ehavioural change鈥� and that the idea that we live in a 鈥渞ight now society鈥�, where people are used to get immediate response to what they need, is one of the reasons behind the unprecedented amount of calls to 111. Sue Panther is a qualified nurse who used to work at NHS Direct and 111.
