Colin Evans gardening tips
Treat lawns to control moss growth. The problems with masses of moss are even more acute now as we have had a pretty wet winter and there is still water lying around in some areas gardens. If you have been lucky and your lawn has now dried out then its worth getting some lawn weed and feed and applying as soon as the lawn is dry. Either use weed and feed or if the moss is well-established then use a dedicated moss killer, just follow the instructions to the letter and you can't go wrong.
ÌýPrepare herbaceous borders by digging well down at least the depth of a fork or spade and incorporate some sharp sand for drainage. Add well rotted manure or compost and leave for the weather to break the soil down. After a few weeks the border will be ready for planting.
Ìý
Feed newly emerged spring bulbs with a slow release fertilizer such as pelleted Chicken manure or Sulphate Of Potash to feed the bulbs to ensure good flowers next spring.
Ìý
Happy Gardening.
