The number of smokers in Northamptonshire has dropped by a third since the introduction of the smoking ban in public places. Health professionals say there's still some way to go.
The number of smokers in Northamptonshire has dropped by a third since the introduction of the smoking ban in public places.
The figures from Public Health England show that before the ban in 2007 just over 30% of the county's population were smokers. The latest set of figures for 2013 show that the figure has reduced to 20%.
Health professionals say there's still some way to go to reduce the figure further and hope that the No Smoking Day message will help others to quit.
Reporter Martin Borley talks to a couple from Corby who鈥檝e both smoked for more than 45 years, and to Tracey Urand, a stop smoking specialist in Corby and Kettering.
