Police Crackdown On Forecourt Fuel Theives
Northamptonshire Police say they regard motorists driving off without paying for their petrol as a very serious offence. On average,two people a day drive off without paying.
Northamptonshire Police say they take incidents of motorists driving off from filling stations without paying for their petrol "very seriously".
Although the number of incidents in Northamptoshire has fallen by around a quarter over the past three years there were still, on average, two cases of non-payment every day in the twelve months to March.
Reporter Willy Gilder meets an independent petrol retailer in the village of Brafield, while Stuart talks to Kevin Eastwood, Executive Director of the British Oil Security Syndicate, and to Chief Inspector Gary Ashton from Northamptonshire Police.
