Fill Village Schools Before Building In Towns Says Rural Head
Northants County Council should fill up village primary schools before building others in towns. A oounty headteacher says families simply don't know their children could attend a rural primary.
Northamptonshire County Council should concentrate on filling village primary schools before building others in towns.
That's the view of Eliza Hollis, the headteacher of three rural primary schools: Stoke Bruerne, Whittlebury and Tiffield. She says families living in towns simply don't know they have a choice to send their children to rural primary schools.
On yesterday's show we heard that 7,000 additional places are needed in Northamptonshire's primary schools by 2014 and two-thirds of those are needed in Northampton alone.
Stuart talks to Eliza Hollis and to Duncan Mills, the Strategic Planning Manager for Northamptonshire County Council.
