Retailers Call For Tougher Sentences For Shoplifters

Business owners in the county say that shoplifters should face tougher sentences & that more should be done to deter them.

Business owners in Northamptonshire say that shoplifters should face tougher sentences and that more should be done to deter them. It comes as new figures from Northamptonshire police shows that shoplifting is on the increase.

The police figures show a year on year increase of 18.1%.

Reporter Elinor Cross discusses the issue with the manager of Claire's Accessories at the Newland Centre in Kettering and to the Newland Centre Manager, Neil Griffin.
