Crisis Loans Scheme Scrapped

Northants County Council now has responsibility for people in hardship who have run out of cash. It says it will help existing organisations such as food banks, rather than giving out cash.

Northamptonshire County Council has taken over responsibility for looking after people in hardship who have run out of cash. The Council has been given 2 million pounds for this but it says it will spend this on boosting existing organisations such as food banks, rather than giving out grants or loans.

Martin Lord from Northampton Citizens Advice Bureau explains what's changed, and Stuart talks to Councillor Heather Smith, from the controlling Conservative group on the County Council, to Liberal Democrat Councillor Chris Stambra, to Councillor Bob Scott from the Council's Labour group and to UKIP MEP Derek Clark.
