A & E Patient Numbers Reach Record High
Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals see an average of over 230 patients every day. Both hospitals say the numbers continue to rise - and it's not sustainable.
The number of people visiting the Accident and Emergency departments at Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals has reached a record high.
The hospital A & E departments see an average of over 230 patients every day. That figure has more than doubled in twenty years.
Both hospitals say the numbers continue to rise and they says it's not sustainable.
Stuart talks to Dr John Timperley, the urgent care lead at Northampton General Hospital and to Dr Roger Perry, a GP in Wellingborough who's also a board member for Nene Clinical Commissioning Group which will control a lot of the NHS budget from next month as part of the NHS overhaul.
