Mary, Queen of Scots returns to Scotland
Following the death of Francis, Mary returned to Scotland. Although she publicly supported and relied upon Protestant nobles, privately Mary insisted on attending Catholic mass. John Knox was suspicious that she was merely biding her time before attempting to make Scotland a Catholic nation again.
