Nelson Mandela speaks about political protest
Nelson Mandela discusses organised demonstration against the South African government in an interview with a British reporter.
Mandela justifies strike action as a means to gain voting rights and political independence for black Africans, asserting that the ANC is fighting for racial equality and not to drive white South Africans from the country. Mandela also hints at the prospect of future violent protests if the state refuses to make concessions and continues to respond to peaceful demonstration with force.
