Queen鈥檚 speech in Coleraine

Queen Elizabeth II addresses an audience in the New University of Ulster at Coleraine. Her Majesty visited the campus on the second day of her 1977 Silver Jubilee visit to Northern Ireland. Despite an Irish Republican Army bomb having exploded at the campus only the week before, the Queen stated: 鈥淭here are hopeful signs of reconciliation and understanding. Policemen and soldiers have told me of the real co-operation they are receiving. I have sensed a common bond and a shared hope for the future.鈥
