Oak wood lovers

Iolo Williams and Chris Packham go bird-watching and see a pied flycatcher - a speciality of Wales. The male is a dapper bird with black and white plumage. They are real Welsh oak woodland birds. Oak woodland is perfect for flycatchers, firstly because gnarled old oaks have holes for them to nest in. Secondly oak trees support more invertebrates than any other tree, and flycatchers eat insects, particularly caterpillars. Best time to see them is early summer when they are frantically feeding their young. Iolo spots a male redstart.
