Bill Oddie is near Loch Lomomd, trying to spot golden eagles. The first thing he sees is a buzzard, or tourist eagle as it's sometimes referred to here. There's an old adage bird watchers use: if you've got two species that are very similar you won't be sure until you see the real thing, but when you do you'll know. Now that is an eagle. It's a long way off but can't you sense the size of that? It's got wings longer than on a buzzard, more of a neck, more of a tail. Here's a bird with a two metre wingspan so we're talking big birds. The eagle lands on the mountainside - that's a first for Bill as he's never seen a golden eagle land. Especially not on a crag like that. I know they're called golden, but really the main head part is the golden part and you can barely pick that out at a distance. They usually look like a big, dark brown things.
