Putting on a show
Chris Packham tries to see stone curlews at night with night vision equipment, but doesn't see any. He comes back early in the morning and has more luck. The stone curlews are at the pre-nesting stage and are displaying to each other. Eventually they will pair up and disperse across the heath to nest. Parallel walking and making false nest scrapes are part of the display.
